                              A small and beautiful country—–Denmark

Denmark, which is one of the small Scandinavian countries where I had a savory memory.

I am sure that everyone know about Hans Christian Anderson, who is one of the most famous fairy tale writers. When I was a kid, I liked to read his fairy tale, such as The Real Princess, The Emperor’s New Suit, The Snow Queen and so on. Especially, I kept a deep mind of The Little Mermaid. That is why I chose to study in Denmark when I had the chance.

I went to Denmark in 2005 when was Anderson’s 200th birthday. I was so lucky to have quite a few chances to visit many museums and famous sights. For example, I visited the Denmark Palace; I watched the dress parade, and I photoed the most technical Denmark Design Center. The most exciting thing was I saw the Little Mermaid in person. It is a statue that sit on a big rock which is in the center of the island. The status isn’t so beautiful as I thought, but I still liked it so much. I read the fairy tale of The Little Mermaid; I watched the movie of The Little Mermaid; and I saw the real status right before me. I was so exciting at that moment.

The fairy tale is not only the reason I like Denmark, but also the Danish and the advanced equipment in public are all the causes. Firstly, the language of Danish is pretty difficult to pronounce. The funny thing is the way they say the number. Normally, in most of the countries, we say the number by its sequence; however, the Danish say the number oppositely, for example, the number 23, we say twenty-three in English, but in Danish, they will say the number”3″ first, then number”2″. Secondly, the Danish are very friendly. The official language in Denmark is Danish, but 95% of Danish can speak English very well. They can try all possible ways to help you when you have problem. At last, Danish is a very small country, but the people in Denmark are very united. And Denmark ranks as the ninth richest countries in the world. It has high welfare, high wage, and low employment. All the equipments they use in public are very advanced. Denmark is one of the countries where children, women and the old have been treated with high protection and respect ion. Friendly people, funny language and advanced equipment are all the factors to keep Denmark as a nice memory in my mind.

Well, I choose to come to study in United States after I graduate from the school in Denmark. I felt a little bit regret that I didn’t stay in there. But anyway, I like to travel all over the world, I like to know different cultures in different country. I will go and visit Denmark as soon as I have time to. I love Denmark. I miss the friends over there. I am eagring to see the little mermaid again.
