                                                   Rising divorce rate

As we know, high divorce rate is popular exists in many western countries. But now the divorce rate is raising in Asian, especially in my country—–China. China has a very venerable tradition and culture. Divorce rarely happened in century years ago. But the rate of divorce keeps climbing up in nowadays. There are too many reasons cause of it. And, the rising divorce rate not only affects the members in the family, but also the whole society.

One of the most important reasons to cause the rising of divorce rate in China is the new <<Statutes of Marriage Register>>. It enacted on 1^st Oct, 2003, and instead of the old one which had been carried out almost 9 years. In the new statutes, which states the process of divorce doesn’t need any references; people can do the divorce while they are eligible. And it only costs $1.5 for all the procedure. Several years ago, some people didn’t choose to divorce because of the fussy divorce process, now it is easier for them to get divorce. People don’t even think about to figure out the problem, they choose the fastest way to solve the situation, which is divorce. There is a typical example. It is said that there was one pair of lover went to the department to register at 9 o’clock in the morning. And then they decided to take some photos. The bride wanted the most expensive one. She said that she needed to keep this most important memory in her life. But the bridegroom disagreed about that. He pointed out the photo just was a form, and it was not necessary to spend so much money on that. They argued for several hours, and then they went to the same department at 3 o’clock to divorce. The marriage only lasted 6 hours. As we can see that people start to do this even without thinking, the easier process as a result of rising divorce rate.

The level of society moral declined is another reason. The concept of Chinese is changing. Because the changes of market and situation; people don’t close themselves any more. They learn more information from western countries. Some of them become more and more realistic. For example, Zhan knew Lin when they were kids. Both of their families were poor. After graduating from high school, Lin was so depressed due to she couldn’t go to university for lack of money. Then Zhan decided to give up his chance, he went to the factory to earn money to support Lin. They got married after Lin graduated. But their marriage only lasted for 8 months. Lin had high salary than Zhan, and she had many chances to know the rich men around her. So she started to dislike Zhan, and have a date with her boss, finally, they divorced. There are so many cases the same as Zhan and Lin. People have high income, and they start to find someone else beside their partner, day by day, their marriage ends up because of the bad relationship. The general society moral is becoming bad now, so the divorce rate is increasing.
